10th November
We are running low on Orange chocolate. We will have another delivery at the end of November in time for the Christmas markets. However due a lack of funds, we won't be getting any more milk. Only Orange, Coffee and Demon. We should have enough Lime and Plain Dark already for the Xmas markets and web sales.

Blackcurrant Chilli Sauce 2023 edition is now out of stock. We will be picking blackcurrants over the next couple of weeks. We hope to have Blackcurrant 2024 edition in stock by the end of August in time for our 2 big Food Festivals in Bovey Tracey and Ashburton.
28th May
Thanks to everyone who donated to Phil's Great West Run charity collection. We raised £300 for Force Cancer Charity and Phil completed the 13 miles in 2hrs and 5 minutes.
16th April
We have rejigged our shipping charges depending on weight.
17th March
Chilli Chocolate in all flavours is now back in stock. We have gone back to the original milder recipe for the dark, orange, coffee and lime. The milk is still a medium heat and the Demon is extremely hot.
Our last batch of regular chocolate was a little fiery. The regular flavours are supposed to be mild!!
Our powder in 2023 was hotter than expected. For 2024 we have gone back to the original level of chilli and supplied our chocolatiers with a milder powder.
1st February 2024
We are back.
Sorry for the delay. We always take a few weeks to recover at the end of the season plus this year we have had some extra family stuff to deal with. You know how it is.
We have quite a few jobs to do at the nursery including revamping our kitchen and we need to reskim 2 of our polytunnels. One of which was completely demolished in a recent storm.
So we won't be cooking for a few weeks. We have quite a few things in stock though with only a couple of gaps.
We have ordered a batch of Chilli chocolate for the season ahead and we will be bringing back Lime this and also Mint.
On the chilli front we will be concentrating on Habaneros and various Nagas this year.
We had a bumper crop of Reapers last year so expect to see some hotter products.
Kay has been sewing lots of seeds and seedlings are appearing in a multitude of propagators.
We are hoping to get grant/loan for a 4wd vehicle this year which should allow us to do more shows.
Any enough waffle. Thanks for your patience!
Phil and Kay
22nd December
We are now closed until the 8th January.
All backorders have been sent.
We would like to wish our customers a fantastic Christmas
and best wishes to everyone for 2024.
If you need to contact us please email dartmoorcf@gmail.com which comes through to Phil's phone.
7th December
Win a Hot & Spicy chilli hamper. If you would like to enter our competition, let us know how many bottles of Goblin we have sold this year. Competition closes on Saturday. Nearest answer wins!!
6th December
Only two more markets to go - both at Totnes. On the 12th and 19th December.
We should have Buckfastleigh tonight but Phil has lost his voice and picked up a cold from one of the many markets we've been doing recently. It wouldn't be fair to give this to our customers at events, so we have decided to fore go doing the Buckfastleigh one and concentrate on getting better. We are still doing mail order as Kay is boxing up and despatching orders.
18th November
Our next event is next Saturday where we will be at the Mortenhampstead Christmas Market (25th November 2 until 6.30pm).
26th October
We are back. Phew. We went to see our new grandson. Unfortunately he lives with his mum and dad in Australia
We thought it best to close the website as we didn't want people waiting eons for their orders. However we are now back in blighty and orders will ship from Monday onwards (30th October)
6th October
We have a new sauce, but it is NOT AVAILABLE from us!!
It will IS ONLY AVAILABLE from our main stockists at Countrymans Choice Farm Shop in Ivybridge, Devon
BlackSheep is a sweet and smokey, garlic chilli sauce made with Fresh Aji Lemon chillies grown here at the farm. It is based on our Goblin chilli sauce which is always popular although we've modified the ingredients - removed the tomatoes & apples and instead added smoked peppers, ginger and Aji chillies. It is thicker than our regular sauces and goes well with practically anything!
26th September
So news, Phil will be running in the Great West Run in May 2024. It's only 13 miles (what is he winging about). If anyone wants to donate, or just watch an old man stumbling through Exeter looking like a zombie, please don't hesitate to click the link at the top of this page. Force is a nice charity who helped alot when Phil's grandmother was very ill.
Just a heads up....
We will be closed temporarily between October 12th and October 28th 2023 as we need a bit of R&R. We will have people looking after the nursery but unfortunately they can't sort out orders, so best to close the website during this period.
We have been booking Christmas markets, so once again we will be at Buckland Abbey, Met Office, Westpoint Christmas Cracker, Totnes Late Nights and also Mortenhampstead Christmas Markets. We will be at a few more... just looking for indoor events. Being under a gazebo in whatever weather December throws at us is just not fun!
5th September
Big event coming up. This Saturday 9th September, we will be at Nourish Food Festival in Bovey Tracey from 9 until 4 ish.
1st September
We have made a batch of Smokey Onion Chutney, Fiery Apple Chutney, Cider & Jalapeno Chutney and Spiced Tomato Chutneys. However being chutneys, they take a while to mature. So expect to see these around xmas time.
22nd August
Still ticking along. We have had a few big markets recently so haven't done much on the website. We've now picked all our blackcurrants for 2023. However our apples are ripening nicely as are the onions, so we should be offering Smoky Onion chutney in the next few weeks - although it takes a while to mature, like any good chutney.
Fresh chillies should be available soon at markets. Mostly Scotch Bonnets and Naga chillies although this year we might have some spare Aji pods and also Carolina Reapers.
17th July
Our unique multi award winning Chilli Blackcurrant Sauce is now available for 2023. We will have enough blackcurrants this year for 2-3 batches.
30th June
We have had to slightly change our delivery costs. This is because packaging prices have gone up so much. We used to make a loss on delivery charges as we never factored in the costs of the box/loose fill and wrapping. Unfortunately we cannot do this anymore. On the flip side, we dont make any profit on delivery costs and our products are pretty competitive on price compared to other artisan / small producers. We have not increased our prices on our products since 2016 even though ingredients/bottles have shot up in price to us.
22nd June
Our chill chocolate is hotter this year. It is made with the same chillies. We just had a much hotter summer last year so our powder has come back hotter. Therefore our mild bars are now mild to medium. The milk chocolate is now medium to hot and the Demon is even more fiery than before.
Blackcurrant sauce is 2-3 weeks away. Our blackcurrants are almost ripe. We will probably have enough currants to make 2-3 batches.
We are out of our limited run "Smoked chilli jam". With a limited run, you cannot then make another 500 jars. Once it has gone, it has gone so to speak.
However we've modified our regular jam and given it a touch of smoke. We have single smoked the Fatali pods and left the regular Scotch Bonnet pods as they are (for our Chipotle sauce for example we double smoke - so 16 hours in the smoker not 8). This has improved the taste, consistency and colour of the jam. It has a little smoky flavour but nowhere near the smokyness of our smoked jam.
**A few too many smoky references there. Our old english teacher would be apopletic but hey - ho!
Phil's bike is fixed. He will be continuing doing the local deliveries using our unique bike to door service at no cost. So if you are local to us, we'll refund your delivery charge and bring it direct to your door at no cost. Not bad eh?!
We are growing less chillies this year. We still have masses of pods in the freezers/dried from last year. Also our daughter is getting married this year, so we've been busy growing sunflowers instead of Nagas! Luckily we have many bags of dried Naga flakes from last years crop. More than enough in fact.
23rd May
Chilli chocolate back in stock. Due to a lack of funds we are concentrating on out most popular flavours which are dark coffee, dark orange, milk and Dartmoor Demon.
Lime, mint and plain dark will not be available this time around.
4th May
We are still here.. Just ticking along. Unfortunately we've had to delay reskimming 2 of our polytunnels as we have nesting birds in both tunnels!
Blackcurrant chilli sauce is coming soon for 2023. We also have Fireball Reaper Onions and Chipotle Onions both coming soon - although the latter two will only be available at markets.
We are pretty much out of chocolate. Usually we would have an order arrive by now from the chocolatier but we are a bit low on funds. (as is everyone)
We've ordered more now but will be concentrating on the popular flavours. So for this year at the moment we will only be offering Dark with Orange, Dark with Coffee, Milk Plain and our Dartmoor Demon extreme chocolate.
The plain dark and dark with lime aren't very popular so we won't be getting these this time round.
Some of our products are sitting on home printed labels. Same issue as above with a lack of dosh. We'd rather not spend x thousand on labels to replace the ones we need. This only affects the following products
Lemon thyme chilli oil, Naga Salt, Reaper Salt
Obviously we will replace these home printed thermal labels with better ones when funds allow.
Postal wise. UPS have put their prices up from £6 to £9.79 which is quite a jump so we are going to be using Royal Mail for pretty much all orders. For local customers in Ashburton, Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, Exeter and Crediton we are still doing hand deliveries and refunding the delivery charge.
6th March
We are still doing maintenance at the nursery. It's a big job. Meanwhile we are booking events to do later in the year and we should be back at Devon Cliffs for the market there from the end of March.
We had to raise our prices slightly but we've had a fiddle with our shipping costs and managed to reduce them a bit by using Royal Mail for lighter orders.
4th February
We are still here... just doing lots of maintenance around the site in preparation for a new growing season. Mostly pulling out brambles. There are sooooo many of the flipping things!
26th January
No interest in the chilli club idea. Oh well. Knocked that one on the head.
We might have to increase our prices next month as EVERYTHING has gone up in price. It'll be a few pence extra. Not alot!
10th January
Phil is thinking of starting a local free Chilli Group meeting monthly.
Not for our products but for all chilli products plus growing tips/tricks etc
The thinking is a local Pub with a backroom. Beer, burgers and banter plus trying out lots of chilli products.
We've got lots of pals in the chilli world and we can get lots of chilli sauces, chocolate, preserves and all sorts.
Details to be decided and venue.
If anyone is interested ping us an email to dartmoorcf@gmail.com
We will add you to the list. Once he has worked out the details we will be in touch.
Anyone welcome but 18+
3rd January 2023
Happy New Year!
We've got a tonne of work to do at the nursery. Firstly we've got to repair 2 of our tunnels - they need reskimming as they were badly damaged in the recent storms.
We've got to prepare for the new season by clearing all the old plants and turning the soil for the new crop. Finally there is a lot of brambles which need clearing as well as a good tidy up of the site.
Luckily we've got no markets at the moment so we can crack on when the weather is nice. Unfortunately it is winter and there are very few nice days!
21st December
We have now finished markets for 2022 and about to enter hibernation for the next few weeks. We have alot of work to do around the nursery - we desparately need to replace two of our polytunnel covers as they have been decimated by this seasons storms. Unfortunately due to a lack of funds, we haven't been able to do them so far. However we've had some good xmas markets so this is a top priority for 2023.
We would like to wish all our customers, twitter followers, friends and visitors a magical christmas and best wishes for 2023. Hopefully it'll be a bit easier for everyone.
28th November 2022
We have slightly rejigged the website. For weborders we are just concentrating on our main products and have removed some of the obscure products. Our minimum order is £10 as otherwise the cost of the double strength box and packaging can be more than the value of the products.
********************************************************************
21st November 2022
Added another xmas market. We will be at Tavistock Butchers Hall on Saturday 17th December
********************************************************************
12th November 2022
We've booked some local Christmas markets including Bovey Tracey xmas market (Saturday 3rd December), Buckfastleigh town xmas market (Wednesday 7th December) and also the 3 Totnes late night markets )Tuesday 6th/ Tuesday 13th and Tuesday 20th December)
However as Phil does all the markets on his own nowadays, for the latter we will be in the market square but UNDER the canopy rather than in a gazebo. ie not in our usual pitch on the hill.

10th November 2022
We have been asked why our website prices are slightly more expensive than our market prices. The reason for this is that we make a loss on delivery charges and packaging materials. We have to use double strength boxes as we are usually sending glass. If we send by courier and it weighs over 2kg it either costs us £5.75+vat by APS or £6+vat by UPS. We charge £5 for all orders.
At markets we don't have to box things up with additional packaging hence the slight difference in price. HOWEVER we are considerably cheaper anyway than 99% of the artisan sauce companies in the market. We also give free delivery on larger orders and even smaller ones get free chocolate or free chilli seeds. If a customer is local, they get free hand delivery to their door.
We hope you understand!

19th October
not bad eh?!

28th September
NEW PRODUCTS : Reaper Oil and Chipotle Oil both now available.
Also courier wise, we have gone back to our original couriers APC as they still offer the best service.
